It was only a month ago we advised you of the hospitalization of Marjorie Katz, Alan & Josh’s Katz’s mother. We must sadly report that Ma Katz past away early Tuesday morning.
As we said " Ma" was no stranger to drum corps, for over 40 years she had chaperoned, driven buses, cooked and worked the sovi table with the Monarchs, Bridgemen, Cadets, Cabs & Sky Alumni just to name a few. She was a member of the Cabs Alumni Chorus and was a member of the Skyliner Alumni Chorus and Skyliner Alumni Corps.
It was not only Alan & Josh who hit the drum corps field because of Ma’s involvement in the activity, Joi -Robin Katz- Small marched with the Cabs along with her husband Bob in the early 80’s. Lana Katz- Wood marched in a number of Jr. Corps during the 70’s & 80’s and last marched in Archer-Epler Musketeers, and the third generation hit the field last year when Lana’s daughter Jennifer played in the Caballeros pit line. Joining the rest of the clan by marriage is Alan’s wife Rickie one of the original class of 82 all women guard members who now heads up the Cabs Sovi table and Josh’s wife Valeri who has been with the corps for 10 years as a mallet player and instructor.
